Custom Shopify storefronts
I design and build Shopify stores around your brand, from the theme to the checkout. No off-the-shelf themes. You deal with me from the first email to launch day, and the price is fixed before any work starts.

What a build covers
Each store is built to load fast on phones and get shoppers to checkout without fuss. For most stores that means a custom theme written in Liquid for your products, not someone else’s theme bent to fit them.
- Custom theme design and development, on Shopify or Shopify Plus
- Headless builds with Hydrogen when you need more than a theme can do
- Store migrations and theme rebuilds
- Conversion-focused product and checkout pages
- Payments, shipping, tax, inventory sync, Klaviyo, Stripe, ERP and CRM integrations
Fewer apps, faster store
App bloat is the most common speed problem I find on Shopify stores. Every free-trial app leaves JavaScript behind, and broad “SEO booster” apps usually cost more in load time than they add. A competent one-time setup does most of what those apps promise, so that’s where I start.
Ready for Google and AI search at launch
Shopify handles hosting, SSL, canonical tags and the sitemap. It doesn’t write your product content, clean up the duplicate URLs it creates, or emit complete structured data. AI-search readiness is built into every store I ship, and the SEO and AI search pages cover what goes further.
Selling into or out of Japan
I’m based in Japan, and English and Japanese storefronts are a specialty: a checkout built for how people here pay, Shopify Markets for the cross-border side, and every line of Japanese reviewed by a native speaker. See bilingual Shopify in Japan.
After launch
I stay on with a monthly care plan, keeping the store fast, up to date and technically sound, so it always has a developer who knows it.
Common questions
- How much does a custom Shopify store cost?
- Typical builds land between US$2,500 and US$18,000, depending on scope. Essentials builds start at US$2,500, custom storefronts with integrations run around US$5,000–9,000, and fully bespoke flagship builds start at US$10,000. Australian clients pay the same figures in A$, with no GST. Clients in Japan pay ¥310,000–2,210,000, tax included.
- How long does a Shopify build take?
- Most stores launch in 2–10 weeks. An Essentials build takes 2–3 weeks, a Growing build with custom sections 4–6, and a fully bespoke Flagship build 6–10.
- Can you take over or migrate an existing store?
- Yes. Migrations, theme rebuilds, performance rescues and care plans for stores I didn’t originally build are all common projects.
- Do you build headless stores with Hydrogen?
- Yes, when a store needs more than a theme can do. The Discover step at the start of every project is where we work out which one yours needs, before anything is quoted.
